Landscape architect Lee Richardson, of Atlanta's Lee Richardson
& Associates, was working in conjunction with PFVS, Portman,
Fruchtman, Vinson, and Sunderland Architect. They asked PTI to build
a bamboo grove so real in texture and appearance that it would be
nearly identical to the real plant.
PTI arrived on Mon., Dec. 9, with a very small window of time to
deliver
plants and instruct a local interior landscaping firm on assembling
the 40- to-50-foot bamboo. The replica grove had to be shipped in
sections and assembled on site, then hand-lifted up and over the
3/4' rods set for installation.
Because it was so late in the construction phase, no equipment was
available to aid this process. However, by working several 16- to
18-hour days, the job was completed by Fri., Dec. 13, 2002, and
in time for the Dec. 17 Grand Opening.
